| About the Role: Required to be a subject matter expert in bridging urban planning & design practices with urban analytics and computational programming to advance the AECOM’s digital capabilities and increase productivity through investigation of new technical innovations and assess their viability Work closely with Director – Urbanism +Planning to grow AECOM ME’s capabilities in introducing urban data analysis (both pre-computed analysis & generative modelling), building digital twins and other related technologies Provide detailed and specific advice regarding the application of Urban AI specialism to the U+P AECOM’s planning and operations. Actively maintain knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Where appropriate, collaborate with other specialists to ensure the advice given is appropriate to the needs of the project. Knowledge of systems and software engineering to optimally integrate Urban AI expertise in urban scale project workflows and deliverables Consulting across business operations, providing upskilling strategies, and contributing towards specialized knowledge Recommending technical solutions and determining platform development requirements (outline workflows, parameters for testing & define KPIs) and establish strong partnerships with third-party service providers Verifying technical reference information, including user guides, training manuals, and system requirements and determining whether technical solutions meet defined project requirements Manage and build strategic alliances and partnerships, especially with relevant technology partners working on future cities and digitalisation, to support the active work AECOM Interest in planning and policy research and the ability to blend qualitative and quantitative analyses to provide support on the use of existing statistical research methods and tools, and configure these methods within a known context Ensuring accurate representation of Urban AI expertise prior to the distribution of technical solutions and communication with both internal team and clients Excellent recordkeeping, as well as written, graphical, and verbal communication skills Advanced ability to recommend and implement technical recommendations for cross-functional business development Leadership and mentorship abilities to introduce and implement technical solutions Ability to stay organised while balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Technical/ Functional Competencies: Urban Design and Planning thinking Data Science and Analysis Capabilities Software Programming Software: ArcGIS/ QGIS, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Rhino/ Grasshopper Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, HTML, Ruby, R Programming Minimum Requirements Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in either public sector or private, with an increasing level of responsibility ideally in the field of urban design and planning (required) Experience in two or more of the following areas (required): Spatial Analysis using ArcGIS or QGIS Data Visualization Analyzing datasets with accurate weights and linkages to support urban data analysis Determine spatial workflows, parameters and KPIs for urban data analysis Experience working with urban tech service providers, IoT devices, or application development technology alliances is advantageous Experience in collaborating with clients, internal teams, and engineering disciplines on high-profile international urban development projects Preferred Qualifications Education: A Master’s degree, preferably in Urban Planning/ Spatial Developmental Studies/ Geoinformatics or another relevant field, or compensating experience in relevant, technical fields with a background as Data Analyst or Service Design is a must |
