Introduction of Division As an Innovation Manager, you will join the global innovation team at DHL, with Innovation Center locations in Cologne, Singapore, Chicago, Dubai or further locations in MEA. You will be working with DHL operations, customers, startups, and other partners to identify and pilot new solutions that will shape the future of the logistics industry. Principal Accountabilities • Initiate and drive innovation projects that accelerate DHL’s digitalization agenda and strengthens our relationships with key customers and partners. • Manage a portfolio of innovation projects which includes the management of both operational pilot projects as well as thought leadership initiatives. • Apply your expertise to initiate and manage operational pilots and leverage state-of-the-art technologies such as robotics, the internet of things and, artificial intelligence. • As part of the global Innovation Center team, you will also be required to actively engage with DHL’s key customers through events at the Innovation Centers and at regional conferences. • Leverage your creativity to drive thought leadership initiatives including publication of industry-leading trend reports (see: www.dhl.com/robotics), drive external innovation challenges, and scout high-potential startups. This will require working in close coordination with our global innovation teams in Germany, Singapore and USA. • Engage with DHL’s top global and regional customers through tours and workshops at the Innovation Centers and at regional conferences. Knowledge, Skills and Experience • University degree and at least four years relevant job experience • Inspired, open-minded and outgoing in character with a passion for innovation and new technologies • Over 5 years of professional experience in a related field, preferably with a background in consultancy, business, logistics, engineering or technology • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate a complex idea in a simple way and encourage people to adopt ideas • Strong project management skills • Ability to assess business cases, operational processes, and end user needs with empathy and talent for spotting innovation opportunities. • Self-motivated and ability to work independently in an analytical and structured manner • International mindset; willing to travel • Excellent communication skills; you can articulate a complex idea in a simple way that motivates and inspires people, from top executives to operational staff. • Can-do mentality; you don’t hesitate to take initiative and address something hands-on, from developing strategy to being on-site at a logistics operation. • A deep desire to grow and learn. |
