Position Summary: Based within our OW Digital capability, a data scientist will work with other data scientists and consultants on client engagements to generate insights and drive fact-based decision making through programming in Python, SQL, Hive, developing visualization tools etc. A data scientist is expected to travel frequently to the client site for project delivery and will be interacting with counter-parts from clients for data gathering and alignment on insight generation Responsibilities: A Data scientist should be the reliable source of outputs for analytics projects. To fulfill this, he/she should be able to: structure data requests and perform data quality checks with supervision from a senior colleague acquire key required coding capabilities, primarily in Python and SQL, to fulfill common data treatment logically think through basic data issues around format and data quality Support development of data and modelling pipelines Develop basic predictive models e.g. using techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, decision trees etc. with minimal guidance from colleagues Inclination develop analytical and programming approach to simple requests structure and set-up simple data-marts with some guidance from senior data science/consulting colleagues A Data scientist should also contribute to the overall growth and development of Data science and Digital Practice. To fulfil this, he/she should be able to: Support product development cycle by carrying out simple experiments using acquired data treatment and analysis techniques Document and standardize codes used for experiments A Data scientist should demonstrate proactivity in advancing their learning and professional growth by seeking coaching and mentoring from senior data science colleagues. Experience and Skills: Quantitative degree from a top school or previous relevant work experience Fluency in English (written and spoken) 1+ years of relevant experience with similar responsibilities Previous experience in management consulting is beneficial Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL or any other advanced statistical analysis language is an advantage Any experience of developing visualizations in Power BI, Tableau Personal Attributes: Highly organized and structured Logical and lateral thinker Strongly motivated to perform, learn and improve Flexibility to accommodate frequent travel Proactively takes the initiative beyond the tasks assigned and is resourceful Team player, open-minded, possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity Good interpersonal skills Smart appearance, well-presented and professional OUR VALUES & CULTURE We’re serious about making OW a rewarding, progressive, enjoyable and balanced place to work.
