For someone that is full time, this would be three days in the office a week and up to two days remote. Team Structure Business development – The role primarily supports all practice groups (PGs) for the Middle East region and reports into the BD Manager for the Middle East region. The BD and marketing team comprises the following teams: client development, events, practice group BD (PGBD), brand and online marketing, and communications and PR. This role sits within the Dubai PGBD team but will require the candidate to work collaboratively across internal BD teams and with BD team members in our international offices. The Middle East practice – With approximately 40 lawyers, including 11 partners and 1 Of counsel, our office has lawyers who are able to advise on all aspects of English law and the laws within the UAE (including the laws and regulations within the various freezones). Furthermore, many of our lawyers are bilingual in several languages, including Arabic and English. Our team acts for a wide range of international and local listed and private owned companies, institutions, private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds and high-net worth individuals and families throughout the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, State of Kuwait, Republic of Iraq, Kurdistan, Kingdom of Bahrain, State of Qatar, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Islamic Republic of Iran and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The main practice areas for the region include, banking and finance (including Islamic finance), corporate and commercial, dispute resolution and international arbitration, employment, pensions and incentives, and financial services regulatory. The main sector areas of focus for the firm include: (i) transportation and international trade, (ii) decarbonisation, (iii) private capital and funds, (iv) life sciences, and (v) technology. Main Responsibilities Support the BD Manager in the execution of partner business plans and execution of Middle East BD and marketing plan to help partners to further develop profitable revenue growth on their key PG client relationships; Produce high-level first draft standard pitch documents and capability statement in a timely manner; Be able to coordinate with international colleagues on global initiatives/proposals. Updating relevant brochures for the core practice areas and actively maintain credentials logs. Periodically update new work on the website and ensure partner bio’s are kept updated; Responsible for managing the effective digital distribution of newsletters, podcasts, social media posts and other marketing content and work closely with the PR, brand and online marketing team to produce and this content; Attending BD meetings to support partners and fee-earners to identify opportunities for new business, generating relevant ideas to build market presence for these groups – this will include the opportunity to contribute and shape BD plans for these groups; Manage the full proposal lifecycle, which includes being responsible for pitches relevant to the areas above, manage/produce individual capability statements as well as input on pitch presentations; Manage the various awards and directory submissions (Legal 500 and Chambers) submission process and be responsible for producing high quality submissions; Work with the events manager/BD manager to produce and deliver outstanding client events (virtual or otherwise depending on restrictions) but also support the logistics and materials required for the many events we sponsor or host overseas; Liaise with the communications and PR team on internal news announcements and press releases to support the media plan for the different practice areas; Work on targeted client research/trends – distilling research reports so they focus on key areas of relevance and suggesting resulting BD opportunities to fee earners; Liaising with the PA’s on various tasks to help support you in achieving the above; Contributing to the internal office diary on weekly basis; Support the core practice groups with ongoing BD profile raising activity on a day-to-day basis; We are happy to discuss flexible working and will facilitate it where possible. Attributes/Skills Required You will be of graduate calibre ideally; and with proven BD experience in a professional services environment, preferably at executive level. Some knowledge of one or both of the practice groups would be desirable, though this is not essential.
