We are looking for Nutrition Associates to join our pre-opening Animal Health and Welfare division in SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. In this role, you will assist and participate in the management of the animal welfare program and play an active role in research opportunities at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible to directly participate in the daily activities in Nutrition Center and Commissary along with food preparatory activities throughout the park. The position is essential to the maintenance of SeaWorld’s high animal welfare standards and to the advancement of the field and science of marine animal health. Your scope of work includes: Responsible for diet and food preparation for animal care team sectors, considering species specific nutritional diet requirements including caloric intake. Maintain inventory of foodstuff for animal diets, including seafood, produce, feeds, supplements, and live foods. Assist with delivery schedule of frozen products and evaluate regular inventory stocks while maintaining good inventory practices, including proper in-out stocking, expiration dating and monitoring, and overall quality control of products. Collaborate with diet request changes from Zoological Operations, Nutritionist, and Veterinary teams and communicate with Support Nutritionist, Hospital Manager, and Animal Health and Welfare Director regarding animal diet needs, changes and inventory. Maintenance and inventory of warehouse and culinary equipment. Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of company safety policies and implementing and developing standard operating procedures as needed in accordance with the Animal Health and Welfare Director. Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of WAZA, EAZA, AHA, and Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority standards and ensuring all commissary areas are in compliance. Responsible for maintaining quality control sample collection, laboratory sample submission, and data entry. Interactions with guests and colleagues from other departments as required. Performs other duties as required by the leadership team. Participate and implementation of appropriate sanitation protocols for the Nutrition Center. Maintaining proper cleaning protocols, including disinfectant regimes. Safely discarding left-over portions to prevent the spread of disease. Abiding by health and safety protocols and wearing appropriate PPE. Works in varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; weekends, and holidays Lifts, carries, pushes, pulls up to 50 lbs / 20kg on occasion; extensive walking or standing indoors or outdoors; tasks that involve repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, or lifting Performs other tasks as assigned To be considered for this role, you will need to have: High school diploma or equivalent At least 1 year of proven experience in food preparation Good in English verbal and written communication skills Teamwork abilities Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly as the needs of the animal collection develop Basic Mathematical skills Knife skills requiring coordination, precision and speed Food preparation skills Good working familiarity with use of commissary equipment It would be a plus if you have: Professional experience in Biological science, Animal sciences, Nutrition or other related field Familiarity with professional zoo/aquarium and animal communities Familiarity with operating and utilizing purchasing and data entry systems Ability to be certified and operate a forklift, jack palate, transport truck |
