Job Description:
Purpose of the Role :
To collaborate with IT, the Investment Departments and the associated support functions, to understand key
business objectives and IT delivery capabilities to provide fully integrated investment solutions. Provide an end
to end service from requirements gathering and documentation, through to system configuration, application
development, data integration, testing, deployment and user support.
Main Duties and Responsibilities :
 Collate, analyze and document business requirements to support projects, major or minor enhancements.
 Coordinate and manage business and technical meetings/workshops with internal or external stakeholders at
various points in the systems development lifecycle.
 Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications to support the system design and
implementation process.
 Create and execute detailed testing scenarios and test cases, including the collation of any necessary test data.
 Develop and extend new and existing investment solutions using a range of development technologies and
toolkits, supported within the Council.
 Automate the sourcing, transformation and loading of external or internal data into various third party and
internal investment solutions, databases and end user Microsoft solutions.
 Monitor the integrity and correct processing of any external data feeds, reporting issues to the relevant ITD and
Business teams.
 Perform technical and business validation of any data loaded into the investment solutions, ensuring that any
data divergences are remedied or explained.
 Ensure development best practices and the Council’s internal IT governance processes are followed in systems
design, implementation and deployment.
 Configure vendor solutions, which can include workflows, screen configuration, data feeds, access rights,
dashboards and reports.
 Raise and monitor software defects with external software vendors and ensure that the issues are tracked and
resolved, within an appropriate timeframe.
 Liaise with third party data providers to ensure that data files are accurate and delivered as per agreed SLAs.
 Perform end user training and system orientation for new and existing solutions.
 Carry out other similar or related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience :
Education
 Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Technology, Science, Engineering or Finance.
Experience
 5+ years of experience in system analysis and design in a major financial organization. The candidate should
have solid business experience to be able to identify opportunities and support users in their business and to
be able to act as an intermediary between users and ITD professionals.
 5+ years of experience in system development using major programming languages like Java, .Net, and C # in a
major financial organization.
 5+ years of experience in various system implementation projects.
 5+ years of experience in SQL and Relational Database development, ideally SQL‐Server and/or Oracle.
 5+ years of Business Intelligence design and implementation, ideally with the leading technologies e.g. Tableau,
Qlik or Microsoft Power BI.
 Experience of using some of the following third party applications or equivalents: eFront, Bloomberg, Tableau,
Qlik, Microsoft Power BI, FactSet, Charles River, Investran, InvestOne, Eagle, Simcorp, B‐One.
Technical Expertise / Skills / Knowledge :
 Technical: Asp.NET, Java, JavaScript, VB Script, VB.NET, VBA, C#, SQL, XML, Command Script.
 Competencies: Business Analysis, Business Process Design, Data Analysis, Data Modelling, Technical
Architecture, QA Testing.
 Business Knowledge: Investment Accounting, Investment Performance, Private Equity, Real Estate &
Infrastructure, Equities & Fixed Income, Hedge Funds, Operational Risk, Cash Management & Custody.
